Designing across the digital spectrum–from marketing to enterprise-level products.

On Design

Good design starts with team alignment, knowing business objectives and user needs. But putting your finger on the problem areas is key.

Begin with insights: review analytics, research, and gather firsthand information from customers, partners, and employees. Gain an educated viewpoint to focus ideation.

Ideate. Explore, diverge, refine. Balance task efficiency with delightful features. Yes, people have jobs to do, but making an experience more pleasant and memorable inspires continued use and advocacy.

Prioritize committed work (backlog) and future ideas (roadmap). Avoid chasing trends; consider achievable goals and value for users.

Deliver, learn, iterate. Act quickly, refine later. Perfection doesn't exist. Learn from shipped products, monitor key metrics. Test designs with sponsor users if necessary.

Career

I started out by designing marketing websites for beer brands with a penchant for animation and effects, eventually leading to  branded games on iPads and hacked Nintendo Wii controllers used in experiential marketing.

Later, as Group Creative Director at a large advertising agency, I led comprehensive multi-channel campaigns for healthcare, manufacturing, and agriculture clients, covering digital marketing, sales enablement, and print/TV/online ads.

Still passionate about digital, I assumed the role of Experience Design Director, focusing on digital delivery. I built a strong UX design and research team, delivering excellent results.

Currently, as an IBMer, I collaborate with a specialized Salesforce design team. As a design strategist, I work closely with clients like Marriott Vacations Worldwide, developing prioritized roadmaps that cater to owners' and prospects' needs.

Expanding my knowledge, I've trained in AI through IBM WatsonX and Salesforce Einstein. Designers play a crucial role in leveraging AI to help users and businesses achieve goals efficiently amidst industry disruption.
